Ordo Inferus

Sascha: Ihr habt vor kurzem Eure erste Full-Length-CD namens “Invictus Et Aeternus” veröffentlicht. Seid Ihr mit dem Ergebnis und den Reaktionen bisher zufrieden?
Janne und Hempa: Wir sind insgesamt sehr zufrieden mit dem Album. Die Reaktionen waren soweit auch gut. Es ist richtig cool, dass einige Leute das Album wirklich zu verstehen scheinen. Wir haben weder versucht, irgendwas neues zu erschaffen, noch haben wir versucht, „old school“ zu sein. Wir haben einfach gemacht, was wir mögen.
Sascha: Warum habt Ihr Euch die alten Römer zum Thema gemacht und woher nehmt Ihr die Inspiration für Eure Lyrics?
Janne und Hempa: Nun, wir fühlten uns durch die Größe und Brutalität des Römischen Reiches sehr inspiriert. Zu der Zeit gab es viele faszinierende Dinge wie siegreiche Kriegsstrategien, brutale disziplinarische Maßnahmen und glorreiche Feste. Tony hat viel Zeit damit verbracht, Bücher über die römische Geschichte zu lesen.
Sascha: Was bedeutet ORDO INFERUS eigentlich? Ich habe schon was von „Ordo Inversus“ gehört, aber ORDO INFERUS ist mir neu…
Janne und Hempa: Es bedeutet so viel wie „Der Befehl von unten“, z. B. ein Befehl aus der Hölle. Das Schwierige war, einen Bandnamen zu finden, der nicht bereits vergeben war.
Sascha: Seid Ihr Jungs eigentlich auch Filmfreaks? Wenn ich Eure Musik höre, muss ich irgendwie immer an „Caligula“ denken…
Janne und Hempa: Japp, das sind wir. Vor und während des Schreibens von „Invitus Et Aeternus“ haben wir zu Hause viele römische, griechische und mazedonische Filme geschaut.
Sascha: Ich denke, dass Eure Musik sehr von MORBID ANGEL inspiriert wurde. Ist die Band einer Eurer Favoriten? Und was hört Ihr so, wenn Ihr zu Hause seid?
Janne und Hempa: Wir hören Bands wie MORBID ANGEL, DEATH, PESTILENCE, IMMOLATION, BOLT THROWER und so weiter.
Sascha: Wer ist für das Cover-Artwork verantwortlich? Ich denke, dass es nicht derselbe Typ ist, der auch das Artwork für die EP gemacht hat, oder?
Janne und Hempa: Das Cover wurde von drei verschiedenen Künstlern in Zusammenarbeit gefertigt: Benny Moberg, Rado Javor und Malte Blom Madsen. Benny hat alle Werke zu einem zusammengefasst. Das Cover der EP wurde von Paolo Girardi gemacht.
Sascha: Erzählt uns bitte etwas über die Gründung von ORDO INFERUS. Wer kam wann mit der Idee um die Ecke?
Janne und Hempa: Im August 2012 hatte Hempa die Idee, ein Death Metal-Projekt zu gründen, bei dem sich die Leute Dateien über das Internet zuschicken, anstatt sich im Proberaum zu treffen. Da wir alle alte Männer mit Familien und so sind, ist es schwierig, dafür die Zeit zu finden. Er fragte mich, ob ich Lust hätte, den Platz am Schlagzeug einzunehmen, ich gab der Sache eine Chance und es stellte sich als cool heraus. Danach rekrutierten wir Tony, Daryl und Martin und nahmen die MLP „Damnati“ auf. Nach dem Release begannen wir mit der Arbeit am Full Length Album. Während dieser Zeit trennten sich die Wege mit Daryl und Martin, und Sebastian Ramstedt gesellte sich zu uns.
Sascha: Was sind Eure Pläne für die Zukunft? Ist ORDO INFERUS ein Projekt, oder eine richtige Band?
Janne und Hempa: Wir sammeln uns momentan, um mit den Arbeiten für die Fortsetzung zu beginnen. ORDO INFERUS begann als Projekt, aber mittlerweile kann man es eine richtige Band nennen. Wir werden weitermachen und unsere Musik schreiben und aufnehmen. Aber es gibt in der näheren Zukunft keine Pläne, live zu spielen.
Sascha: Ich habe Eure Band als eine Art Supergroup bezeichnet. Wer ist aktuell Teil der Band und wo spielt Ihr noch?
Janne und Hempa: Das Lineup sieht wie folgt aus:
Tony Freed – Vocals (GODHATE, ex-THRONEAEON)
Hempa Brynolfsson – Gitarre (Gründer von EXCRUCIATE, MYKORRHIZA, OBSCURATUM, INTERNA DECAY)
Sebastian Ramstedt – Lead Gitarre (hat in vielen Bands wie NECROPHOBIC, NIFELHEIM, MORPHEUS und EXHUMED gespielt; ist aktuell in der HM-Band BLACK TRIP)
Janne Björkenfjäll – Drums (Janne hat in vielen Bands wie EXCRUCIATE, MASTICATION, EXHUMED, E.G.Y.P.T. und MORPHEUS gespielt; spielt aktuell zudem bei MALFEITOR und BIRCH MOUNTAIN)
Johan Bergebäck – Bass (hat ebenfalls in vielen Bands wie NECROPHOBIC, NIFELHEIM, MORPHEUS und EXHUMED gespielt und spielt aktuell bei der HM-Band BLACK TRIP)
Sascha: Ihr habt bei Doomentia Records unterschrieben. Behandeln sie Euch gut? Scheint ein sehr ehrgeiziges Unternehmen zu sein! Die haben ein paar gute und neue Bands…
Janne und Hempa: Wir waren sehr glücklich darüber, mit Doomentia für die EP zusammenzuarbeiten. Sie waren professionell und verlässlich, weshalb wir uns dazu entschieden, auch beim Full Length mit ihnen zu arbeiten. Lukas ist ein klasse Typ!
Sascha: Wird es die Chance geben, Euch bald live sehen zu können?
Janne und Hempa: Man weiß nie, was die Zukunft bringen wird…
Sascha: Gibt es schon Merch von Euch? Wo kriege ich ein Shirt her?
Janne und Hempa: Es gibt ein bisschen Merch, aber es wird noch mehr kommen. Es sollte bei Doomentia erhältlich sein.

Sascha: You just released your first full length called „Invictus Et Aeternus“. Are you satisfied with the results and the reactions so far?
Janne and Hempa: We are overall very satisfied with the album. The reactions have been good. It’s cool that some people really understand the album. We did not try to create anything new nor did we try to be „old school“. We just went with what we liked.
Sascha: Why did you choose the Romans as your theme and where did you get all the inspiration for your lyrics?
Janne and Hempa: Well, we felt very inspired by the greatness and brutality of the Roman Empire. So much fascinating stuff was going such as victorious war strategies, brutal disciplinary measures and glorious celebrations. Tony spent a lot of time reading about the Roman history.
Sascha: What does ORDO INFERUS mean? I already heard ordo inversus but ORDO INFERUS is new to me...
Janne and Hempa: It means "The Order From Below" i.e. the order from hell. The hard part was to find a band name that wasn’t already taken.
Sascha: Are you guys movie freaks as well? When I listen to your music I am always thinking of „Caligula“...
Janne and Hempa: Yup, that we are. Before and during the creation of „Invictus Et Aeternus“ there were a lot of Roman, Greek and Macedonian films on our screens at home.
Sascha: I think your music is pretty much inspired by MORBID ANGEL. Are they one of your favs? What are you guys listening to at home?
Janne and Hempa: We listen to bands like MORBID ANGEL/DEATH/PESTILENCE/IMMOLATION/BOLT THROWER and so on.
Sascha: Who did the cover artwork? I think it's not the same guy who did the art for the EP, right?
Janne and Hempa: The cover art is actually made by three different artists contributing to it. Benny Moberg, Rado Javor and Malte Blom Madsen. Benny put all together into one. The cover art for the EP was done by Paolo Girardi.
Sascha: Tell us something about the founding of ORDO INFERUS. Who came up with the idea and when?
Janne and Hempa: In august 2012 Hempa had the idea to start a death metal project with people sending files to each other instead of meeting up in a rehearsal room. Because we all are old men with families and stuff, it’s hard to find the time for that. He asked me if I was on for the drums seat, and I gave it a shot and it turn out cool. After that we recruited Tony, Daryl and Martin and recorded the MLP „Damnati“. After the release we start working with the full length album. And during that time we parted ways with both Daryl and Martin, and Sebastian Ramstedt joined us.
Sascha: What are your future plans? Is ORDO INFERUS a project or is it a „real“ Band?
Janne and Hempa: We are currently pulling ourselves together to start working on the sequel. ORDO INFERUS started as a project, but now you can call us a „real“ band. We will continue to write and record our music. But we have no plans to play live in the near future.
Sascha: I described the band as some kind of supergroup. Who is currently in the band and where did or still do they play also?
Janne and Hempa: The line-up is:

Sascha: You guys signed with Doomentia Records. Are they treating you guys well? Seems to be a pretty aspiring company! They got a lot of good, new bands in stock...
Janne and Hempa: We were very happy working with Doomentia for the EP. They were professional and reliable so we decided to stick with them for the full length. Lukas is a great guy!
Sascha: Any chance to see you live soon?
Janne and Hempa: You never know what the future brings…
Sascha: Do you already have some merch? Where can I get a shirt?
Janne and Hempa: There are some merch items ready, but more will probably come. It should be available at Doomentia.
