Erstmal danke, dass Du Lust hast, ein Interview mit HUMILIATION zu führen, das weiß ich sehr zu schätzen. Ich bin Bear Bee, HUMILIATIONs Sänger. Wir haben die Band Mitte 2009 gegründet und konzentrieren uns auf Midtempo-Death Metal. Ein paar Mitglieder (Gitarre) haben gewechselt. Die Bandmitglieder leben alle in Kuala Lumpur, der Hauptstadt von Malaysia. Nur Asraf, unser Gitarrist, lebt in Baling, ungefähr 550 km von Kuala Lumpur entfernt (nördlich der Halbinsel Malaysia). Sascha: Ihr habt gerade eine Split-Single mit den schwedischen Deathern PAGANIZER veröffentlicht, die ziemlich gut ist. Erzähl\' uns etwas darüber. Bear Bee: Brutal Art Records und Dead Beat Media sind gut mit Rogga von PAGANIZER befreundet. Sie haben Rogga vorgeschlagen, mit HUMILIATION zusammenzuarbeiten. Eigentlich hatten wir zuvor keinen Kontakt mit Rogga, aber wir sind überglücklich, dass er zugestimmt hat, mit uns zu splitten. Das ist eine großartige Gelegenheit für eine neue Band wie uns. Sascha: Ihr mögt Singles und EPs, kann das sein? Bear Bee: Wir wollen in der Szene lebendig sein und ja, wir lieben die kleine Vinyl. Wir wollen Splits mit Bands aus allen Ländern der Welt haben. Indirekt wird die kleine Platte HUMILIATIONs Namen in die ganze Welt tragen. Sascha: Wann werden wir ein weiteres Full Length Album hören? Bear Bee: Das offizielle Releasedatum für das neue Album “Battalion” von Deepsend Records ist der 14. Oktober 2014. Die neue Scheibe wurde in Chicago, USA, gemastert und enthält 11 neue Tracks. Es ist das beste Album, das wir bisher produziert haben, und wir sind sehr zufrieden mit dem Release. Sascha: Ihr scheint sowas wie Workaholics zu sein. Die Band existiert seit gerade mal fünf Jahren, und Ihr habt bereits vier Alben und sechs Splits oder EPs veröffentlicht. Woher nehmt Ihr all die Kreativität? Bear Bee: Wir haben sehr viel Freizeit hier. Momentan haben wir fünf Alben und sieben Splits/EPs. Glücklicherweise arbeiten alle Bandmitglieder zusammen, um neue Songs zu komponieren, und jedes Mal konzentrieren wir uns auf das, was wir zustande bringen wollen. Setze ein Ziel, und wir arbeiten daraufhin. Nichts ist unmöglich in dieser Welt. Sascha: Wie sieht die Szene in Malaysia aus? Ich denke, Thailand ist mehr Black Metal und Indonesien mehr Brutal Death? Bear Bee: Metalmusik kam mit Heavy Metal und Thrash Metal Mitte der 80er Jahre nach Malaysia. Wir haben eine kleine Gemeinschaft. Hier gibt es alle Genres, von Doom Metal über Grindcore zum Black Metal. Wir haben kein besonders beliebtes Genre. Malaysia ist kein berühmter Stop für internationale Bands. Trotzdem haben Bands wie KREATOR, NAPALM DEATH, DEATH ANGEL, DESTRUCTION, DRI, HATE ETERNAL, ARCH ENEMY und einige andere Bands schon mal hier gespielt. Aktuell liegt die durchschnittliche Teilnahme an Konzerten bei 500-600 Leuten für internationale Bands, und um die 100 für lokale Shows. Sascha: Hat es eine Old School-Death Metal Band schwer in Malaysia? Ich war nie dort, sind die Leute Metalheads gegenüber tolerant? Bear Bee: In Malaysia ist Metalmusik immer noch ein Tabu in der Gesellschaft. Jedes Mal, wenn die Gesellschaft über Metal spricht, assozieren sie es mit Black Metal... Satan anbeten, Blut trinken und all die negativen Seiten. Wir haben nicht mal Clips von METALLICA und IRON MAIDEN im Fernsehen. Es geht nicht nur um Old School-Death Metal, alle extremen Metal-Genres haben Schwierigkeiten und Hindernisse, sich frei in diesem wundervollen Land zu bewegen. Wir bekommen keine Sponsoren für Metal-Events. Die Bewegung in der Szene ist absolut Underground. Sascha: Warum habt Ihr das Kriegsthema gewählt? Bear Bee: Wir wollen den Leuten die Wahrheit sagen, und was zuvor geschah. Nun konzentrieren wir uns mehr auf die Kriegsgeschichte vor Ort. Sascha: Woher nehmt Ihr die Einflüsse für Eure Texte? Lest Ihr alte Bücher, oder schaut Ihr Euch den Geschichtskanal an? Bear Bee: Ich kann mich daran erinnen, was ich in der Schule gelernt habe. Geschichte war mein Lieblingsfach. Ja, ich beziehe mich auf alte Bücher, ebenso wie auf Filme und den Geschichtskanal. Ich habe ein bisschen Recherche zum Thema betrieben. Sascha: Ihr kommt dieses Jahr nochmal nach Europa. Die \"Military Force\" Tour wird Euch auch in die Nähe meiner Heimatstadt bringen. Freut Ihr Euch schon darauf? Ihr mögt Europa doch, oder? Bear Bee: Dies ist das dritte Jahr in Folge, in dem wir in Europa spielen. Dieses Jahr kommen wir nach Deutschland, Holland, Dänemark und in die Schweiz. Wir freuen uns sehr, Europa wieder zu zerschmettern. Wir spielen sehr gern in Europa. Ein Grund dafür ist, dass wir kein Visum beantragen müssen und es dort keine Schwierigkeiten gibt. Sascha: Was ist mit Deiner alten Band NIGHTSHADERS oder NIGHTSHADE? Sind einige der anderen Jungs auch in anderen Bands aktiv? Bear Bee: Ich und Mudon, der Schlagzeuger, haben NIGHTSHADERS (der alte Name ist NIGHTSHADE) verlassen, bevor wir HUMILIATION gegründet haben. NIGHTSHADERS sind immer noch aktiv. Momentan hat nur Matt eine Zweitband, KILLER CORPSE, die anderen spielen nur bei HUMILIATION. Bear Bee: Hello mate and greetings from Malaysia. First of all, thanks for willing to do an interview with HUMILIATION, appreciate it much. I am the Bear Bee, HUMILIATION\'s vocalist. We formed HUMILIATION in mid 2009 and we focus on mid-tempo death metal. Few members (on guitar) changed. All the band members live in Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia. Only Asraf (the guitarist) lives in Baling city, about 550km away from Kuala Lumpur (north of Penisular Malaysia). Sascha: You just released a split single with Swe-Deathers PAGANIZER, which is pretty good. It\'s available via Brutal Art Records. Tell us something about it! Bear Bee: Brutal Art Records & Dead Beat Media are great friends with Rogga of PAGANIZER. They purpose to Rogga to have split with HUMILIATION. Actually we don’t have any contact with Rogga before, but we are more than happy that he agreed to split with us. This is a great opportunity for a new band like us. Sascha: You guys like singles an EPs don\'t you? Bear Bee: We want to be alive in the scene and yes, we love small vinyl. We want to have split with bands from all of the countries in the world. Indirectly, the small vinyl may bring HUMILIATION\'s name to the entire world. Sascha: When will we hear another full-length album? Bear Bee: The official release date for new album from Deepsend Records is 14 Oct 2014, entitled \"Battalion\". The new album mastering was done in Chicago, USA, with 11 new tracks. This is the best album we produced this far and we are really satisfied with this release. Sascha: You guys seem to be some kind of workaholic. The band exists five years, and you already released four full-lenghts and six splits or EPs. Where do you get all this creativity for that? Bear Bee: We have plenty free time over here. At the moment we have five full lengths & seven EPs/splits. Fortunately, all the band members work together to compose the songs, and everytime we focus on what we want to deliver. Set the target and we work \"towards the target\". Nothing is impossible in this world. Sascha: What does the scene look like in Malaysia? I think Thailand is more black metal and Indonesia is more into brutal death? Bear Bee: In Malaysia, metal music started in the middle of 80\'s with heavy metal & thrash metal. We have small community. Over here, we have all the genres, from doom metal, grindcore to black metal. We do not have a popular genre. Malaysia is not a famous stop point for international bands. Anyhow, bands like KREATOR, NAPALM DEATH, DEATH ANGEL, DESTRUCTION, DRI, HATE ETERNAL, ARCH ENEMY and few more bands ever played here in Malaysia. Lately, in average normally the crowd attendance for each show is about 500-600 people for international bands and around 100 people for local shows. Sascha: Isn\'t it hard for an old school death metal band in Malaysia? Never been there, are the people tolerant to metalheads? Bear Bee: In Malaysia, metal music is still a taboo to the society. Everytime when the society talk about metal music they associate it with black metal....praising satan, drink blood and all the negative things. Even we can\'t have METALLICA & IRON MAIDEN clips in the national TV channel. Its not only old school death metal, all the extreme metal genres have the difficulty and obstacles to move freely in this lovely country. We can\'t get sponsorship for metal event. Our movement in the scene is totally underground. Sascha: Why did you choose the war theme? Bear Bee: We want to tell people the truth and what has happened before. Now we are more focused to deliberate in-house war history. Sascha: Where do you get your lyrical influences? Do you read old books, or do you just watch national history on TV? Bear Bee: I can recall what I learnt during my secondary school, history is the favorite subject for me. Yes, I refer to the old books as well as the film, national history channel and did some research on the subject. Sascha: You are coming to Europe again this year. The \"Military Force\" tour will also bring you close to my hometown. Are you looking forward to it? You guys like Europe, don\'t you? Bear Bee: This is the third year in a row for us to play in Europe. For this year, we will play in Germany, Holland, Denmark and Switzerland. We are really excited to crush Europe again. We really like to play in Europe. One thing is, that there\'s no need for us to apply visa to enter Europe and so far no hassle over there. Sascha: What about your old band NIGHTSHADERS or NIGHTSHADE? Are some of the other guys also active in some other bands? Bear Bee: Myself and Mudon the drummer quit NIGHTSHADERS (the old name is NIGHTSHADE) before we formed HUMILIATION. NIGHTSHADERS is still an active band. At the moment only Matt has another side band called KILLER CORPSE, the rest of the members only play in HUMILIATION.
